telemedicine

“Telemedicine” is an emerging technology in veterinary medicine. Telemedicine is the use of medical information exchanged via electronic communication regarding a patient’s clinical health; we correspond through phone, email, and face-time communiques, enhancing accessibility and client communication

The appropriate application of telemedicine can enhance animal care by facilitating communication, diagnostics, treatments, and client education

Please collect and forward as much patient history as possible to Dr Yomtovian, prior to scheduling a telemedicine consult

The standard of care is the same whether telemedicine, in-hospital, or at home care is delivered. Of course there are limitations with telemedicine that must be considered, such as not being able to obtain information gathered through palpation and auscultation, or an inability to see the patient's response to physical touch

Dr Yomtovian’s experience as an Emergency Veterinarian makes her uniquely qualified for ”teletriage.” Telegriage is the safe, appropriate, and timely assessment and management (immediate referral to a veterinarian or not) of animal patients via electronic consultation with their owners. In assessing patient condition electronically, Dr Yomtovian can determine the urgency and the need for immediate referral to a veterinarian, based on the owner’s report of history and clinical signs and supplemental information (pix and vids). A diagnosis is not rendered. The essence of teletriage is to make good and safe decisions regarding a patient’s disposition (immediate referral to a veterinarian or not) under conditions of uncertainty and urgency

Telemedicine makes veterinary consults easier and more convenient than ever!

NB Telemedicine is not for everyone or every situation. Please inquire if you are not certain telemedicine is for you
